Consorzio Pro Loco Valle di Ledro
We are waiting to welcome you in our green and peaceful oasis, to
spend a holiday far away from the daily stress,a vacation characterized
by relax and sports in the open air.
Bezzecca
Bezzecca is situated in the centre of the Valle di Ledro at the
outlet of the lateral Concei Valley and is, above all, during the
summer a tourist centre. The Latin origin of the name is "bis
secta" which means "cut in two parts". The river
"Assat" cut the little village in two districts: "Villa"
on the right side and "Luta" on the left side. Bezzecca
is famous for being the scene of the battle between the Italian
army under Garibaldi and the Austrian army in 1866 during the Third
Indipendence War. There is an interesting park on the S. Stefano
hill where the Path of Peace winds through the trenches.
Very interesting is also the little church "S. Lucia in pratis"
of the 15th century which has been completely restored last year
and where have been discovered very old frescoes..
Concei
The Concei Valley, a lateral of Valle di Ledro, is particularly
peaceful and is surrounded by woods and a chain of mountains which
reachs also 2.000 metres. The three little villages Locca, Enguiso
and Lenzumo have mantained their typical, rural character. There
are many trekking possibilities and mountain bike tours.
Molina di Ledro
A small town on Lake Ledro, known mainly for the Bronze Age pile-dwellings
settlement which re-emerged into the light of day in 1929. More
than 10.000 piles and many other objects like pottery were found.
The museum preserves these things and describes the way of life
of the old Ledro inhabitants.
The town centre and the older parts of the nearby villages are built
in the typical architectural style of the area, although many houses
were rebuilt or renovated after the First World War.
Very evident is the origin of the name which means village of mills.
Mills, saw-mills, smithies had exploited the craft of water. Molina
di Ledro is sitauted along the river Ponale, effluent of the Lake
Ledro till the hydroelectric plant was built in Riva del Garda.
Pieve di Ledro
Located on the north-west side of Lake Ledro, Pieve di Ledro has
a range of tourist accomodation and facilities. The name comes from
the Latin word "Plebs" that means people and shows the
place where the people assembled particularly for religious meetings.
Pieve was the centre of the Ledro comunity because in the past the
power belonged to the prince-bishops.
Pieve di Ledro is an excellent starting point for hikes in the mountains
and for mountain bike excursions.
Mezzolago, near Pieve, is a small village at the outlet of the Valle
di Dromaè and has a natural botanic garden with many rare
endemic species.
Tiarno di Sopra
Situated in the very green and westernmost part of the Valle di
Ledro, Tiarno di Sopra is just seven Km. far from Lake Ledro. It
is a tourist centre expecially during the summer.
Archeological discoveries prove that there was life in this area
during the Roman Age and also before.
A short distance from the village is the protected Lake Ampola biotope
where you can see a variety of aquatic and marsh plants. Many excursions
can also be made to areas where the environment remains unspoilt.
The Passo Tremalzo offers interesting itineraries for mountain bikers
and for trekking-lovers. In winter you can practise downhill skiing
and cross-crountry skiing.
Tiarno di Sotto
A small village just 3,5 Km. from Lake Ledro offers many opportunities
for healthy walks and for more difficult hikes in virtual unspoilt
natural surroundings. A very important sign of the cultural and
artistic treasures in the Ledro Valley is the beautiful church in
Tiarno di Sotto which preserves some valuable paintings and a precious
polyptych of 1587 that seams to be by the Tintoretto painting school.
